University of Manchester Chorus - 73rd Season - 2008/9
It is my privilege to welcome you to the University of Manchester Chorus website!
Founded in 1936, Chorus has gone from strength to strength with the last few seasons achieving sell-out concerts twice a year. We are a non-auditioning choir and are made up of staff and students of the university as well as members from the wider community in Manchester and beyond. Under the expert direction of our Conductor, Marcus Farnsworth, we have already successfully performed a wide range of choral works, ranging from Bach's Magnificat to Elgar's Dream of Gerontius.
This year, we are delighted to announce that we will be performing Mendelssohn's Elijah at the Whitworth Hall for two nights in December as well as welcoming the internationally acclaimed soloist Amanda Roocroft when we perform Benjamin Britten's War Requiem in Manchester's famous Bridgewater Hall in May 2009. Both concerts are held along with our own University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra. For more information please visit our Current Season page.
As with last season, rehearsals take place every Thursday in the Martin Harris Centre, off Coupland Street in the University of Manchester South Campus (number 42 on a campus map) beginning at 7pm.
Having already given you advanced warning for your diary we look forward to you joining us for the upcoming season that I am sure you will agree, should prove to be an exciting one that is not to be missed.
